PASADENA, Calif., March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a general engineering services contract from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to provide professional services support to the Office of the Chief Engineer for the development, operation, maintenance, and construction of the state highway system. Jacobs receives contract on the Florida Department of Transportation's I-95 project

PASADENA, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that the Community Asphalt Corp. team, for which Jacobs is the design engineer, received a contract to provide design-build services on the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Five project to widen Interstate 95 (Palm Bay Road to Fiske Blvd.) from four lanes to six lanes and to construct a new interchange at the Pineda Causeway Extension in Brevard County, Fla. Officials estimate the project value at $197 million, with construction scheduled for completion in December 2011. Jacobs will provide highway and bridge design services for the project, which includes 18 miles of new and reconstructed roadway, drainage system improvements, bridge widenings and replacements, noise and retaining walls, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) modifications. Jacobs receives contract for east side access tunnel and rail work in New York City

PASADENA, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it and its joint venture partner, LiRo Engineers, Inc., received a contract from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Construction Company to provide consultant construction management services for the East Side Access project in New York City, N.Y. Officials estimate the value of the seven-year contract at $75 million. The project involves boring nearly seven miles of railroad tunnels in Manhattan and Queens; laying 50,000 feet of track; building a new terminal under Grand Central Terminal; and building a new commuter station in the Sunnyside Yard in Queens in addition to extensive infrastructure work. The new tunnel and track system will provide an alternative route for the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) trains that currently travel underground to Pennsylvania Station on Manhattan's West Side into the new terminal under Grand Central Terminal on the East Side. The connection will increase the LIRR's capacity into Manhattan and shorten travel time dramatically for commuters traveling from Long Island and eastern Queens to the East Side of Manhattan. The project requires using giant tunnel boring machines to excavate more than a mile of hard-rock dual-bored tunnels under Park Avenue in Manhattan and to bore four soft-ground tunnels to the Sunnyside Yard in Queens. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract from the City and County of Denver, Department of Aviation to provide design services at Denver International Airport (DIA) for the new Concourse C program that also includes design of the Concourse C eastern expansion, a commuter facility, and all infrastructure surrounding the building expansion. Jacobs' joint venture team selected for sound transit university link project

PASADENA, Calif., July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that the Seattle Tunnel and Rail Team (START), a joint venture between Jacobs and CH2M Hill, has been selected to receive a construction management services contract from Sound Transit to extend light rail service to connect the region's three most densely populated urban centers in Washington State -- downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill/First Hill, and the University District. Officials did not provide the contract value; however, the total installed cost of the project is valued at $1.6 billion. The 3.15-mile project entails constructing two parallel tunnels that run northward from downtown Seattle to the University of Washington, with stations at Capitol Hill and on the University of Washington campus near Husky Stadium. Jacobs is selected by Children's Hospital of Orange County to manage construction of new patient tower

Jacobs receives contract to design New Jersey transit portal bridge

PASADENA, Calif., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it, in a tri-venture with Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems and HNTB Corporation, received a contract from NJ TRANSIT to provide design services for the Portal Bridge Capacity Enhancement Project. Jacobs' officials estimate the overall construction value of the project at $1.3 billion, with construction scheduled for completion and revenue service to begin in 2017. The project involves replacing a vital 98-year-old two track railroad swing bridge that crosses the Hackensack River carrying Amtrak's Northeast Corridor train service as well as NJ TRANSIT's Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, and Midtown Direct commuter service to Penn Station in New York City. The existing two-track bridge will be replaced with two bridges on either side of it carrying a total of five tracks. The northernmost bridge will be a fixed bridge with a 50-foot mean high water clearance for marine traffic and will carry three tracks. The second structure, south of the existing bridge, will contain a movable 400-foot long center span with a 40-foot mean high water clearance and will carry two tracks. It will be possible to raise the center span ten feet via a vertical hydraulic lift that will be utilized about ten times a year to accommodate the largest marine vessels navigating the river.
