We’re currently delivering interior and exterior design and health planning services for the $510 million (AU$750 million) Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Stage 1 Redevelopment project. The project will deliver a new hospital building and refurbishment of existing spaces, including more adult inpatient beds and expanded emergency department, intensive care unit, medical imaging services, operating theaters, and maternity, birthing and neonatal services. 

In 2016, The Queensland Government announced plans to replace the existing nearly-80-year-old Roma Hospital with a new state-of-the-art, medical facility. Jacobs was initially engaged to deliver the schematic design as part of the business case and was later appointed as Principal Design Consultant for the project. As principal design consultant, we were responsible for delivering all external and internal design services for the facility – which was completed in 2020 – including architecture, health planning, interiors, landscape architecture and building engineering services design.

Over a four-year period, completed in 2020, we worked with the Southern District Health Board and the Manatū Hauora Ministry of Health to develop the inputs for the Indicative Business Case and Detailed Business Case for the New Dunedin Hospital. 

When damage caused by the 2011 earthquake forced the relocation of Christchurch Hospital’s outpatient services into temporary facilities, Jacobs and CCM Architects were engaged to deliver new state-of-the art seismically designed facilities that embraced a collaborative, patient-centered care model for patients accessing allied health, general and specialist care outpatient services. Our work completed in 2019.

Jacobs delivered architectural services for the Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital Expansion Project - Stage 1 and Stage 2. The new facilities accommodated the expansion of existing services, meeting   demand and reducing the need to travel out of the area for treatment for the growing population in New South Wales.

The new Footscray Hospital PPP is currently in delivery. Once complete, the new Footscray Hospital will be a major tertiary and teaching hospital in Melbourne’s booming inner west. We’re currently working with the Victorian Health Building Authority as Technical Advisor for Architecture & Health Planning to deliver this significant project. With an increase of almost 200 beds, the new hospital will treat approximately 15,000 more patients each year. Scheduled for completion in late 2025, it is the largest ever health infrastructure investment in the state.

We’re working with the Victorian Health Building Authority as Technical Advisor for Architecture & Health Planning for the AU$1.1 billion project to redevelop Frankston Hospital. The new 12-story clinical services tower is expected to deliver 130 new beds and 15 new operating theaters and support the expansion of child and maternal health and mental health services in this fast-growing area of southeast Melbourne in Victoria.
