As passenger volumes continue to rise across Southern California, Ontario International Airport is launching a major infrastructure transformation to meet growing demand. To lead this next phase of development, the Ontario International Airport Authority has selected Jacobs to provide project and construction management services.

The multi-year contract supports the airport’s capital improvement and tenant improvement programs — marking a pivotal step in Ontario International’s evolution as a key regional and international gateway.

Located about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Ontario International is California's most popular midsize airport. Jacobs has supported the airport for more than eight years, delivering a range of projects including terminal modernizations and cargo operation upgrades. Under the new contract, Jacobs will lead the planning and delivery of airside, landside and terminal projects designed to modernize the airport and enhance the traveler experience.

Jacobs supports clients through every phase of airport development — from planning and concept review to design, construction, commissioning, operational readiness and facilities management. The company has delivered project and construction management services at 25 of the 30 busiest airports in the United States and is ranked the top aviation firm by Engineering News-Record. This experience will guide Ontario International’s capital improvements, with a focus on expanding capacity, maintaining smooth operations and advancing sustainability.

“Ontario International Airport is more than just a transportation gateway — it’s a powerful engine for regional growth,” says Hany Haroun, Jacobs’ transportation market growth director for California. “With the modernization efforts, we’re delivering infrastructure that connects communities, expands access and supports long-term economic vitality across Southern California.”

Key areas of Jacobs’ work include:

  • Airside enhancements: Rehabilitation of Taxiways E, F, S, S5 and Runway 8L-26R to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Terminal upgrades: Roof replacements, infrastructure renewal, seating modernization and utility enhancements to elevate the travel experience.
  • Landside improvements: Roadway reconstruction, parking lot upgrades and improved traffic flow for easier access and mobility.
  • Sustainability initiatives: Zero-emission electric bus infrastructure and advanced stormwater management systems to support the airport’s clean mobility goals.
