Our state-of-the-art technologies and intelligent systems are designed to reduce accidents, enhance road safety and protect lives.

Using a collaborative approach, we proactively identify and implement innovative, proven effective strategies that support safer journeys. From real-time traffic monitoring to automated safety alerts, we provide comprehensive solutions that keep drivers informed and secure.

Operational road safety solutions

From analysis to intervention, improving safety performance and reducing serious injuries across road networks.

Data driven problem highway

Data-driven problem identification

Reassessing safety assumptions to identify the right risks and apply proven solutions that effectively reduce collisions.

irap highway

International Road Assessment Program (iRAP) analysis and implementation

Using iRAP root risk scoring to analyze the factors driving the risk rating and prioritize what can readily be altered at affordable cost and reasonable timeframes.

Highways collision

Multiple factor review of collisions to identify causation

Analyzing collisions linked to road surface such as skid resistance and wet-road skidding collisions, to identify where asset elements might be reviewed to reduce collisions through renewals and/or maintenance.

Highways speed

Understanding speed and factors for addressing road user needs

Optimizing speed limits based on data and behavior to reduce confusion, improve compliance, and enhance safety across highway networks. Our proposals smooth speed limits, so there are fewer changes, better locations for transitions, and limits that are understandable to drivers and riders, resulting in better compliance.

land use highways

Land use impacts and proactive planning to address road safety needs

Using video and data analysis to identify hidden safety risks and optimize access points to improve corridor safety for all users.

Planning and designing for bicycle, pedestrian and equestrian

Planning and designing for bicycle, pedestrian and equestrian

Assessing end-to-end routes to enhance walking and cycling access, improving safety and unlocking measurable benefits in project value. We work with multiple strategic highway authority teams to understand how to forecast and monetize the benefits of improved accessibility in scheme cost-benefit calculation. This leads to effective recommendations for infrastructure and operations improvements for these active-travel modes.

Road Worker

Considering road worker as well as road user safety

Applying safety risk assessment to protect both road users and workers, ensuring interventions deliver net benefits while minimizing risk.

Operational road safety, explained

Understanding how data, behavior and engineering interventions reduce risk and improve safety across road networks.

The constructive open working relationship with our client team includes supporting them in stakeholder engagement across the globe. This is at all levels including government, strategic highway authorities, local community council and elected members and members of the public and local businesses. We adapt our methods and messaging to keep all fully informed about the analysis and findings and gain strong support for the proposed measures.

iRAP consistently identifies data-driven star ratings of a route’s potential risks before collisions occur. Conversely, traditional methods focus on understanding why collisions occurred, relying on available data and on-site engineering analysis.

For best results, both should be used in a blended approach. iRAP gives a clear, objective baseline for proactive improvements and traditional analysis ensures local context, behavior and sitespecific insight are fully considered. Together they deliver a more complete picture of road safety performance and provide correct intervention identification.

Two-way exchange showed our openness to understanding problems that were not evident in data – for example damage-only collision events, which local communities had details about. We were open about how collisions have occurred and what factors can be changed (speed, road engineering) and which are difficult or impossible to change in a specific location (driver attitudes, impaired driving including fatigue).

Jacobs approach to operational road safety combines collaborative planning, robust safety governance and proactive risk management to embed safety across design, construction and operation. By using data-driven analysis, road safety audits and innovative methods, we continuously improve performance and reduce risk for all road users.

Jacobs uses data, advanced analytics and intelligent transport systems to identify risk patterns and enable targeted, proactive road safety interventions. By integrating real-time monitoring, GIS insights and collision analysis, we improve decision-making, reduce incidents and enhance overall network safety.

Jacobs supports agencies in achieving Vision Zero goals by using data-driven analysis, intelligent transport systems and targeted engineering interventions to reduce risk and improve safety. Through close collaboration with stakeholders, we implement proactive strategies that minimize conflicts, enhance traffic flow and reduce fatalities and serious injuries.
