Jacobs, acting as Owner’s Engineer for Lodestone Energy, is supporting the development of utility-scale solar farms in New Zealand. The project contributes to the country's low-emissions future by helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels and increase the proportion of renewable energy generation in the network.
The City of Wilmington, Delaware, is home to approximately 70,851 residents, making it the most populated city in the state. The Wilmington water and wastewater facilities provide water treatment to both the city and much of the northern Delaware region, including approximately 400,000 residents in northern New Castle County. With a high population comes the necessity for safe, quality water. In 2020, the city selected Jacobs for a 20-year contract to operate and manage its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), combined sewer overflow facilities and its Renewable Energy Biosolids Facility (REBF).
Jacobs worked with the Environment Agency to deliver an entirely nature-based, carbon-negative solution to reduce flood risk to 95 properties in Low Crosby, Cumbria, U.K. The project, completed in 2023, aligned with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (U.N. SDGs) and has provided over £15 million ($18.4 million) of quantified economic and environmental benefits, including long-term climate resilience.
Jacobs is working with Anglian Water and several partners on a project funded through Ofwat’s Innovation Fund to target a step change reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and electricity use in used water treatment and provide a new renewable energy source through green hydrogen production.
