In 1971, the National Park Service (NPS) engaged Jacobs to provide architecture and engineering services at Yosemite National Park. Today, we are continuing our work at the park, focusing on rehabilitating and redesigning wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in El Portal and Tuolumne Meadows, furthering the health and safety of staff, visitors and the environment.
We’re working with the San Diego Association of Governments, California Department of Transportation and the City of San Diego to develop alternatives and a feasibility study for adding managed lanes on a critical transportation link in the region. In October 2018, Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB) was hit with a Category 5 hurricane which resulted in damage to 100% of its assets. As a result, they have embarked on a rebuilding program that is focused on creating a resilient, sustainable and smart Installation of the Future that leverages innovative solutions in a “system of systems” approach to perform at the nexus of mission assurance, cost efficiency, and social and environmental sustainability.
Providing architectural and engineering services for our National Parks since 1971, Jacobs continues to protect, restore, rebuild and enhance America’s magnificent parks for the future.
Jacobs has supported Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) with its long-term development plan since 2002 through an on-call agreement and multiple individual projects.
The Virginia Inland Port (VIP) is next to the Norfolk Southern rail line and two interstate highways (I-66 and I-81) in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. One of the first transfer facilities in the country, it needed to expand to better serve into the future – and Jacobs dove in to help, assisting across the expansion project.
Since 2011, Jacobs has supported the Massachusetts Port Authority with recent and ongoing projects to modernize and expand the capacity of Conley Terminal, New England’s largest full-service container port which moves roughly a third of the region’s cargo.
Jacobs served on the team leading redevelopment of 87 acres of the container yard at Barbours Cut Container Terminal in Texas, which was in need of an upgrade to maintain operational efficiency.
