Lindsay Gerding

As the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Life Sciences, North America, Lindsay Gerding leads high-performing teams that deliver complex, cutting-edge biopharma facilities with a relentless focus on safety, quality and cost – overcoming challenges no one else can. She oversees engineering, architectural, procurement, construction management, commissioning, qualification and validation services (EPCMCQV) for our global Life Sciences partners.

Lindsay’s career is a testament to adaptability, knowing your strengths and leading with empathy. With a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and business minor from Ohio University, Lindsay began her career as a process engineer. After early roles in the chemicals and oil and gas industries, Lindsay joined Jacobs. However, it wasn’t long before she discovered her true strength: building and empowering exceptional teams with clear vision and expected outcomes. A core competencies assessment by the Jacobs Learning and Development team changed everything. The results showed she was naturally suited for leadership - prompting a move into project engineering, where she thrived leading multidisciplinary teams and delighting clients.

Building on that foundation and now with more than 20 years of project delivery experience, she’s held a variety of progressively responsible roles from project delivery, operations and general management to now leading our Life Sciences business in North America.  Lindsay is redefining leadership and reshaping how to enable the best teams in the world to design, build, qualify and commission first-of-a-kind facilities.

A strong advocate for talent from all different backgrounds and cultures, she mentors colleagues across the company and serves as Jacobs’ corporate executive sponsor for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

“People love strategy and vision — but if they can’t see how they’re contributing to it, it won’t succeed. I help connect the dots.”

How do you drive our clients’ strategy in your current role?

I bring our clients’ strategies to life by building high-performing teams of Life Sciences professionals who combine deep industry expertise with cutting-edge technology. Together, we deliver transformative solutions for our biopharmaceutical clients. My role is connecting the dots — making sure our teams understand the client’s vision and are empowered to execute with precision and passion. That’s how we turn strategy into real-world impact.

What are you most passionate about?

I grew up in an economically challenged area with a single mom and was the first in my family to go to college. Education and mentorship positively changed my life. Now, I am passionate about STEAM advocacy and mentorship to pay it forward. I lead the iSPACE: The STEM Learning Center’s Girls in STEM Advisory Board and want young girls to see that a future in STEAM is not only possible — but powerful.

What are you most proud of looking back on your career so far?

I’m proud of the culture I’ve built in my teams. People tell me I’m a different kind of leader — approachable, inclusive and purpose-driven. I strive to create environments where people and their perspectives feel seen, heard and valued. That’s what enables us to deliver such high-impact work as a team.

Can you tell us about an experience that has shaped your leadership style?

Serving as a communications lead for Jacobs’ Women’s Network Global Steering Committee was a defining experience for me. I was only 10 years into my career and found myself pitching ideas directly to our CEO and other senior leaders during a major company transformation. At the same time, I was communicating with a global network of more than 5,000 people. That experience taught me how to lead inclusively and communicate effectively. We also helped shape company benefits like expanded parental leave — seeing those ideas come to life has been incredibly rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about being part of #OurJacobs?

The purpose. The scale. The flexibility. Jacobs has supported me through career changes, relocations and family life. It’s a place where you can grow, pivot and still feel connected to something meaningful.
