Our culture is what makes working at Jacobs special.

There are three integral places where our shared attitudes and behaviors show up – the company’s values and practices, your team and network, and your experience day to day. Tennessee-based Jennifer Baldwin, Digital OneWater Strategic Growth Lead, shares what she loves most about working at Jacobs.

How long have you been at Jacobs?

I’ve been with Jacobs for 18 years.

Why do you wear the “J?”

Wearing the "J" means showing up as my authentic self every day. I love my work in the water industry I've been able to get into our Digital OneWater solutions over the last couple of years and I believe we're at the forefront of digital in water —with an exciting future ahead.

I also love our employee networks (JENs). I've met several people who've made an impact on my career and personal growth through our JENs. Our employee networks set us apart from other consulting and solutions providers and I think they're really special.

What does our culture mean to you?

Our culture means that I can come to work and know that I'll be supported. On my projects and in Digital OneWater, I work with a team from various backgrounds and having a culture of openness and caring reminds me that I need to listen to all the voices in the room. I've often had people tell me that I'm too quiet in the past and our culture gave me the confidence to speak up when I have something to say. Because of my past experiences, I make sure to ask for opinions from team members who tend to stay quiet so their voices are heard, too.

How do you practice our Culture of Caring every day?

I'm a Collectively ambassador and Positive Mental Health Champion. I don't have to wear either of those hats every day, but I love being able to help people when a request comes my way.

I'm also a mentor to junior- and mid-level engineers who are eager to learn what we're doing in digital as well as wet-weather conveyance (my main area of practice). Mentoring keeps me grounded – allowing me to understand the needs of people who are in different places in their careers and help them show up as their best selves at work.
