Jacobs is delivering critical infrastructure across the U.S., earning national recognition for engineering excellence and positive community impact. Five projects have been honored in the 2024 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Awards, showcasing innovative design, sustainable practices and transformative benefits for the communities they serve.
Lynnwood Link Extension

The Lynnwood Link Extension is a key addition to Seattle’s light rail network, enhancing connectivity between residential neighborhoods and economic centers. The project includes 8.5 miles of new rail, four stations and a maintenance facility. By cutting travel times and providing reliable transit options, the extension supports sustainable growth and improves access to jobs, education and essential services. Jacobs’ design leadership on this project earned the National Grand Award, ACEC’s highest honor.
Seattle Waterfront Overlook Walk

The Seattle Waterfront Overlook Walk is a striking pedestrian connection between downtown and the waterfront. The project features elevated walkways, public spaces and scenic views of Elliott Bay. Jacobs’ design blends artistic elements with sustainability, creating an inclusive, vibrant experience. It enhances mobility, boosts tourism and supports local businesses. This project received a National Honor Award from ACEC.
Northwest Phase II Light Rail Extension

In Phoenix, the 1.6-mile Northwest Phase II Light Rail Extension is revitalizing public transit by linking communities with jobs, schools and entertainment venues. Jacobs introduced innovative engineering solutions such as a new track slab system, custom steel-tube girders and a multimodal transit hub. The extension promotes walkability, drives economic development and sets a new benchmark for light rail. This project also earned a National Honor Award from ACEC.
Motor Control Centers and Distribution Centers (MCC-DC) Replacement Project

The Motor Control Centers and Distribution Centers (MCC-DC) Replacement Project was a $79 million, 14-year capital program that modernized critical electrical systems at the Noman M. Cole Jr. Water Recycling Facility. Jacobs led the design and provided construction services for upgrades including switchgear, motor control centers and control systems—ensuring safe, reliable operations for the next 40 years. ACEC honored the project with a National Recognition Award.
Garden State Parkway Superstructure Replacement
In New Jersey, Jacobs delivered resident engineering and inspection services for the Garden State Parkway Superstructure Replacement Project (mileposts 106.3–106.5) in Monmouth County. The bridge replacements improve driver safety, enhance roadway lighting and ease traffic congestion—benefiting nearby communities and businesses. This project also received a National Recognition Award from ACEC.
Delivering lasting local benefits
