Jacobs has been appointed by the U.K. Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) to provide multi-disciplinary consultancy and advisory to the Energy and Net Zero Professional Services Framework, a critical initiative to support the U.K.’s energy security and net zero ambitions.

The framework will enable Jacobs to examine solutions and technologies across four key areas: strategic and technical support for nuclear energy projects, development and implementation of hydrogen technologies for heating and industrial use, innovative solutions and emerging technologies to advance energy efficiency, and industrial process transformation to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability.

"The backbone of prosperous communities and economic growth depend on resilient, sustainable and secure energy," said Jacobs Executive Vice President Keith Lawson. “We’ll draw on decades of experience in energy systems and infrastructure to bring DESNZ deeper insight in their mission for a cleaner, secure energy future in the U.K."

The framework agreement with DESNZ is for an initial term of two years, with an option to extend by up to two additional one-year periods.

Jacobs’ portfolio in decarbonization and energy security includes delivering strategic route options for the U.K.’s National Gas, supporting at Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station, and delivering engineering services for MTerra Solar in the Philippines, which is poised to become one of the world's largest solar farms when complete. In the U.S, Jacobs is leading execution of a major program of critical transmission, distribution and generation projects for Xcel Energy

Jacobs is ranked No. 2 in Power, Solar Power and Wind Power and No. 1 in Nuclear Plants by Engineering News-Record in 2024.
