Jacobs has earned five Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) and Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ) Business Achievement Awards, highlighting the company’s impact across environmental planning, digital solutions, nature-based approaches, climate resilience infrastructure and low-carbon energy.

The annual awards honor outstanding performance across the environmental and climate change industries. Jacobs was recognized in the following categories:

  • EBJ – New Practice Areas: Integrated Catchment Management
Jacobs launched its Integrated Catchment Management approach, delivering a systems-based approach to water stewardship that prioritizes nature-based solutions and coordinated funding strategies. Building on a successful pilot in Greater Manchester, U.K., the practice is now supporting integrated water management programs across England, improving biodiversity, climate resilience and long-term social value.
  • EBJ – Information Technology: Rapid Critical Issues Analysis
Jacobs’ Rapid Critical Issues Analysis application modernizes early-stage environmental review by enabling self-service spatial screening against national environmental and cultural datasets. The platform accelerates site evaluation, improves consistency across projects and supports faster, more confident early-stage decision-making.
  • EBJ – Lifetime Achievement Award: Jan Walstrom
Jan Walstrom, now retired from Jacobs, was honored with an EBJ Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her distinguished career and lasting contributions to environmental services, leadership and innovation across the industry.
  • CCBJ – Consulting and Engineering: Hawick Flood Protection Scheme, United Kingdom
The Hawick Flood Protection Scheme marked a major milestone in 2025, completing primary works across a multi-year program that now protects 935 homes and businesses from a 1-in-75-year flood event, achieving a 20-year aim. The integrated program delivered flood defenses, bridge replacements, road and utility upgrades and public-realm enhancements, while restoring access to the River Teviot and creating new active-travel routes. Jacobs led the scheme from flood risk assessment through design and construction management, working with a range of stakeholders. The result: revitalized public spaces, more than 150 apprenticeships and a more climate-resilient riverside town.
  • CCBJ – Financing GHG Mitigation: Data-Driven Decarbonization at Heathrow, United Kingdom
Jacobs is supporting Heathrow’s net-zero ambitions through a digital Marginal Abatement Cost Curve tool that connects investment to measurable carbon savings across each project’s lifecycle. Embedded within Heathrow’s Carbon and Sustainability Program, the aviation-specific model helps prioritize cost-effective emissions reductions, test decarbonization pathways and align capital planning with long-term sustainability goals.

“As climate risks intensify, the environmental industry has an important role to play in helping communities adapt and transition to a lower-carbon future,” says Jacobs President, Global Operations, Patrick Hill. “This well-earned recognition reflects the breadth of our team’s work — from delivering complex climate-resilience infrastructure and advancing nature-based water management, to applying digital tools that improve decision-making and unlock data-driven decarbonization. Together, these efforts demonstrate our focus on practical solutions that strengthen resilience, enhance biodiversity and create lasting social and economic value.”
