As demand for high-performance computing and data-intensive applications accelerates, organizations are building scalable digital infrastructure that can keep pace.

NorthMark Compute and Cloud is developing a high-performance computing center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The project is transforming the former Kohler manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art computing center designed to support advanced analytics, research and other mission-critical digital workloads. By combining adaptive reuse of existing industrial infrastructure with dedicated on-site power generation, the campus is being designed to deliver the reliability, speed , and environmental stewardship required for next-generation computing applications.. The project will also contribute to economic growth and position Spartanburg as an emerging hub for digital infrastructure and technology investment.

Delivering an integrated EPCM solution

Jacobs serves as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) lead for the program, providing multidisciplinary services from environmental remediationpermitting and engineering through procurement, project controls and construction management. As part of the transformation of the former manufacturing facility, Jacobs' environmental professionals are leading site assessment, abatement and remediation activities to prepare the site for its next chapter as a technology center. The project repurposes more than 950,000 square feet of existing industrial space supporting accelerated and responsible delivery through strategic reuse of existing infrastructure.

Jacobs is coordinating civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, security and life-safety systems, along with the campus energy infrastructure. By integrating environmental, power and digital infrastructure expertise within a single delivery model, we're helping NorthMark Compute and Cloud streamline delivery and manage risk, creating a facility built for long-term operational performance.

The project includes supporting site infrastructure, operational facilities and advanced security systems needed to support reliable, mission-critical operations. By integrating high-performance computing infrastructure with dedicated on-site power generation, the site will  minimize reliance on external infrastructure and reduce demand on the local grid.

The result is a reliable and responsible computing center that will support innovation, strengthen regional economic development and help power the next generation of digital technologies.
