As Engineer Consultants for the Consolidation Works at the First and Second Container Terminals on the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Jacobs’ technical knowledge of container terminal design and our ability to manage multidisciplinary projects from design through construction and commissioning is helping the port move into the future.

Saudi Ports Authority embarked on a development and modernization program to transform the King Abdulaziz Port into a mega-container hub and increase the Port’s capacity to an estimated annual handling capacity of 7.5 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU) when the planned expansion works are fully completed.
As a first step of this ambitious endeavor, Jacobs was appointed to deliver the design of:
- Repair and renovation of Berths 23 & 24 at T1.
- Quay deck and yard pavement repair and/or reconstruction at T1.
- Building renovation at T1.
- Construction of berth no. 44 involving draft of quay wall at T2.
- Infrastructure and pavement at the back yard of berth no. 44 at T2.
- New terminal buildings at T2.
- New storage yard of area on new reclaimed land envisaged for an automated container handling operation at T2.
