Utah Data Center: A storage facility for the United States Intelligence Community

The Balfour Beatty | DPR | Big-D joint venture, with our team and Architectural Nexus as design partners provided design-build services for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Utah Data Center (UDC) at Camp Williams, Utah.

Inside the Utah Data Center

The $1.2 billion project included 100,000-square-feet of Tier III data center space and1,350,000-square-feet of technical support and administrative space. Support facilities include water treatment facilities, vehicle inspection facility, interim visitor control center, perimeter site security measures, fuel storage, water storage, chiller plant, fire suppression systems and100% electrical generator, and UPS backup capacity.

The facility showcases numerous innovative technology and energy efficiency features and was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

In addition, the team maximized the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools to help facilitate collaboration and coordination of all project aspects during design and construction.

The Balfour Beatty | DPR | Big-D team worked diligently to maximize involvement from local and small business communities. The team held several open houses and targeted workshops to solicit interest and input from local businesses.

The project was being designed and constructed on a fast-track basis.
