Laurens van der Tak brings more than 37 years of experience addressing stormwater and water resource challenges, with expertise in climate vulnerability and risk assessments, adaptation strategy development and cost-benefit analysis. His work helps utilities and public agencies plan resilient, long-term solutions that respond to evolving environmental and operational pressures. 

His experience spans stormwater utilities, integrated water and wastewater master planning, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality analysis and GIS applications. Laurens helps clients better understand system performance, prioritize investments and strengthen resilience through data-driven planning and adaptive management approaches. 

An active industry leader, Laurens is a past chair of the American Water Works Association’s Water Resources Sustainability Division and Climate Change Committee. He has also contributed to major industry guidance, including publications on stormwater utility funding and climate action planning for utilities, helping advance best practices in sustainable water management.
