With over 20 years of experience spanning academia and industry, David’s work is grounded in complex systems theory, applied mathematics and physics, with a strong focus on real-world implementation. He combines engineering modeling, sensor data and AI to provide a coherent understanding of how systems behave and how they can be influenced.

David began his career in academia, working at the intersection of applied mathematics, physics and engineering, specializing in modeling complex dynamical systems (systems that evolve over time according to defined rules) and solving non-linear problems. As sensor data and computational capability expanded, he moved into data science, bridging the gap between theoretical models and observed data. Today, he focuses on integrating modeling, data and decision-making to solve complex challenges across multiple domains.

At Jacobs, David leads advanced data and analytics across complex systems and industries, translating analytical insights into reliable decisions and shaping digital solutions from problem definition through final validation. He works with clients to frame problems at the system level, ensuring that the right questions are asked and solutions reflects real-world uncertainties, interdependencies and operational constraints. He guides the integration of engineering models, data and AI to ensure that outcomes are robust, defensible and aligned with the original problem definition.

Outside of work, David maintains a strong interest in complex systems and how patterns, instabilities and behaviors emerge in natural and physical environments. He also enjoys cooking, exploring the delights of his local delicatessen and hunting for pastries.
