Alan Fotheringham brings nearly 40 years of experience helping clients plan and deliver resilient, low-carbon energy systems in a rapidly evolving global landscape. As Jacobs’ low carbon solutions director, he works with organizations to connect long-term decarbonization goals with practical, deliverable strategies that balance sustainability, affordability and energy security.

His expertise spans both emerging and established low-carbon technologies, including sustainable fuels, carbon capture, advanced nuclear, hydrogen and long-duration energy storage. Taking a systems-based approach, Alan helps clients understand how energy generation, infrastructure, supply chains and markets interact, enabling more informed investment decisions and stronger long-term performance.

Through collaboration across Jacobs’ global teams and industry partners, Alan supports clients in progressing from strategy to implementation, helping advance commercially viable programs that accelerate the transition to more resilient, low-carbon energy systems.
