Alan Brown

Alan brings more than 40 years of experience in dam and reservoir engineering across the United Kingdom and internationally. His expertise spans the inspection, risk assessment and rehabilitation of existing dams, as well as the design and construction supervision of new dams and associated infrastructure, including hydropower schemes. 

He combines deep technical knowledge in hydraulics, geotechnical engineering and risk analysis with a practical understanding of regulatory and operational requirements. Alan supports clients in managing dam safety, addressing aging infrastructure and delivering solutions that enhance resilience and long-term performance. 

Alan represents the United Kingdom on the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Embankment Dams Committee and is accredited as an All Reservoirs Panel Engineer under U.K. reservoir safety legislation. A recognized industry leader, he has authored key national guidance on reservoir risk assessment and continues to support complex, high-profile dam safety programs.
