Sarita Anston-Race

With nearly two decades of experience in subsurface roles across oil and gas and engineering hydrogeology, Dr. Sarita Anston-Race turns complex subsurface uncertainty into clear, defensible decisions for clients. She has drilled more than 30 wells in varied geological settings, to depths under 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometers), and has directed offshore operations where timing, safety and decision-making are inseparable. 

She began her career with a company specializing in global energy technologies and oilfield services, running open-hole logging tools. Later, Sarita moved into consulting before joining one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies as an operations geologist. Sarita oversaw well-site geologists and drilling activity, then worked as a field development geologist with significant subsurface characterization. After that, she moved into late-life oil and gas asset field work and decommissioning in the U.K. Southern North Sea, working closely with government through the North Sea Transition Authority. 

Sarita holds a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering with hydrogeology and a doctorate in sedimentology. She is a Chartered Geologist, a Fellow of the Geological Society and has lectured in geology and petrophysics.
