Upgrading sludge treatment at Woodman Point to recover more resources and energy

Upgrades at Perth’s largest wastewater treatment plant will increase capacity, improve biosolids recovery and generate nearly 50% of the plant’s energy from captured biogas.

Jacobs, together with Alliance partner Clough, is delivering the design, construction and commissioning of the sludge processing system at the Woodman Point Water Resource Recovery Facility in Perth, Australia. 

As part of the Alliance, Jacobs is providing engineering and design services for the upgrade, including process, civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, energy recovery and odor control. The team is also coordinating geotechnical investigations and site surveys and supporting design through construction, commissioning and handover. These upgrades are modernizing the facility’s sludge processing system, increasing capacity and enhancing resource recovery and energy generation.
