Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon energy system depends on a grid that can support increasing volumes of renewable generation while maintaining reliability and security of supply. As more wind and other renewable sources come online, the transmission network must evolve to handle new flows of power and changing demand patterns. Without timely upgrades, constraints on the grid can limit progress and impact system stability. To address this, EirGrid is advancing a program of network development and reinforcement. Strengthening transmission infrastructure improves  system resilience and keeps Ireland’s decarbonization goals within reach.

Jacobs is supporting EirGrid through a multi-year framework, providing engineering, environmental and advisory services across a portfolio of transmission projects. Through planning, design and delivery services, we’re addressing technical, regulatory and environmental considerations at each stage — delivering infrastructure that is robust and adaptable. This approach enables EirGrid to progress projects more efficiently and strengthen the grid to support Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon energy system.
