Our culture is what makes working at Jacobs special.

There are three integral places where our shared attitudes and behaviors show up – the company’s values and practices, your team and network, and your experience day to day. Chief Legal & Administrative Officer Joanne Caruso shares what she loves most about working at Jacobs.

What does our Culture of Caring mean to you? How do you try to live it out in your current role?

In my role as the Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, keeping our people safe and secure, both physically and emotionally, is a critical part of my job. We create a positive, safe work environment by providing tools and resources to promote the wellbeing of our people, talking about our Culture of Caring and celebrating the actions and behaviors that demonstrate how our people care for one another. And with our Culture of Caring, we go even further at Jacobs – extending our responsibility to our families and the communities we serve.

How do you encourage learning and curiosity? Why is this important for our culture?

Learning and curiosity are foundational to attracting and retaining great talent. Our global team is smart, energized and driven. Enthusiasm and a culture of continuous learning are essential in a world that’s changing fast. By providing opportunities to grow, empowering the ability to take on new responsibilities and encouraging all to learn from one another, we’re able to foster a dynamic culture with people who are pushing the limits of what’s possible.

Which aspect of our culture makes Jacobs special?

People are at the heart of our culture. We expect and want our people to bring their whole selves to work each day – celebrating their backgrounds, talents, skills and experiences. To me, our focus on inclusion and belonging, and the ability to learn from one another, makes this company incredibly special.

Which program, resource or initiative has been most impactful to you?

I’ve been the co-executive global sponsor of our Prism employee network for more than seven years. Like all our Jacobs Employee Networks (JENs), Prism is committed to making Jacobs a place where everyone feels they belong. This has been instrumental in ensuring that “We live inclusion,” which is one of our core values. I've had the privilege of being a member of all eight employee networks and have met and learned from so many wonderful colleagues all over the world. This has been very impactful for me and has been a highlight of my career.

“I wear the ‘J’ because I know as a company, we’re working each day to bring to life the things I wish for – peace throughout the world, kindness for all, and protection and care for the earth’s resources.”
