One Year On: Progress on Jacobs Group Australia's Reconciliation Action Plan

Advancing reconciliation through cultural awareness, Indigenous employment and industry collaboration

A year ago, Jacobs Group Australia (“Jacobs”) launched its 2024-2026 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), reaffirming its commitment to building relationships, fostering respect and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In the past 12 months, Jacobs has completed 62% of its RAP commitments and remains focused on long-term impact.

Jacobs in Australia’s Innovate RAP developed in collaboration with Reconciliation Australia, covers the period from February 2024 through 2026 Innovate RAPs guide organizations in taking strategic, sustainable actions that advance reconciliation. These two-year plans are designed to empower relationships with First Nations communities and embed meaningful change at every level.

Strengthening commitment and accountability

At Jacobs, reconciliation is more than a commitment—it’s a responsibility woven into how the company operates. Over the past year, Jacobs has focused on turning words into action through strong leadership, transparency and industry collaboration.

Senior leaders continue to champion reconciliation as a business priority, promoting accountability at every level. To increase transparency, Jacobs adopted Weavr —a digital platform developed by Indigenous-owned LOGiT Australia—to track RAP initiatives and measure progress.

Cultural understanding remains central to Jacobs’ workplace strategy. In collaboration with Evolve Communities, an Indigenous, female-owned training organization, the company rolled out mandatory cultural awareness training to build inclusion and strengthen team connections. Supporting First Nations businesses is also a priority. Jacobs expanded its relationships with Supply Nation and Indigenous Defence and Infrastructure Consortium (iDiC), creating new opportunities for Indigenous suppliers and increasing sector-wide collaboration. Recognizing that systemic change requires collective effort, Jacobs helped establish a reconciliation forum through Consult Australia. The forum brings together industry leaders to share best practices and accelerate reconciliation across the business community.

"Inclusion is a core value at Jacobs, shaping how we create lasting impact.," said Camille McGregor, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Jacobs Australia & New Zealand. "Our Reconciliation Action Plan keeps us focused on listening, learning and taking meaningful action to strengthen relationships and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We remain committed to making reconciliation a business priority and driving real change across our industry."

Supporting indigenous employment and community engagement

Listening plays a key role in advancing reconciliation. Through workshops with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, Jacobs gained valuable feedback that helped refine recruitment and retention strategies, ensuring Indigenous representation is both meaningful and sustainable.

Jacobs’ commitment also extends into the community.  Employees actively participated in National Reconciliation Week and National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week, deepening their understanding of First Nations cultures and building stronger local connections. These shared experiences highlight the importance of collective responsibility in advancing reconciliation.

Looking ahead: Priorities for 2025

Jacobs remains focused on maintaining momentum. Upcoming actions include launching a national employee forum for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members, expanding cultural learning through Yarning Circle sessions and introducing a digital Traditional Owners map to enhance local engagement.

In parallel, Jacobs continues to strengthen its Indigenous procurement strategy to foster partnerships and create economic opportunities.

The company’s focus on continuous learning, action and accountability is aimed at ensuring its reconciliation efforts deliver lasting, meaningful impact.
