Jacobs to drive transportation improvements in Georgia
Jacobs has been selected by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for a five-year General Engineering and Design Services contract supporting transportation infrastructure across GDOT District 2 in East Central Georgia.
Jacobs will provide multidisciplinary engineering and design services for transportation projects across the district's 27 counties. The work will support roadway and infrastructure improvements that enhance connectivity and support economic growth across the region.
GDOT District 2 is one of the state's largest districts and supports key transportation routes critical to regional mobility and economic activity. With key freight corridors and some of Georgia’s fastest growing communities, the improvements are an important driver of the state's economy. The contract will support GDOT's efforts to deliver critical infrastructure improvements safely and efficiently across District 2.
The selection builds on decades of collaboration with GDOT and a growing portfolio of transportation projects throughout Georgia. Recent work includes GDOT's use of real-time traffic analytics during major construction activities in metro Atlanta, enabling data-driven decisions on lane closures and traffic management strategies that reduce disruption for motorists during construction.

One example is the 15th Street Extension in Midtown Atlanta, a collaborative effort involving GDOT and Midtown Alliance. The project provides a new east-west connection between the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Arts Center Station and surrounding streets, improving connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers while supporting continued growth in one of Atlanta's most active districts.
