Jacobs in Canada strengthens commitment to indigenous reconciliation

As part of its ongoing commitment to Indigenous reconciliation, Jacobs Canada joined the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations ( PAIR) program in 2025. The PAIR program recognizes corporate performance in Indigenous relations, signaling that a company is a good business partner, a great place to work and committed to economic prosperity in Indigenous communities. The PAIR program provides a structured framework for organizations to strengthen relationships with Indigenous businesses through their four drivers of Community Relationships, Employment, Business Development and Leadership Actions. By signing at the commitment level in 2025, Jacobs Canada is taking a proactive approach to integrating Indigenous perspectives into our business operations while supporting improved access for Indigenous-owned enterprises for opportunities within the industry, promoting Jacobs Canada as a top-tier workplace for Indigenous employees. Jacobs technologies feature in three winning water innovation projects
Driving innovation in U.K. water infrastructure Three projects featuring Jacobs-developed technologies and expertise have been named winners of the fifth Water Breakthrough Challenge by the Ofwat Innovation Fund. The fund is delivered by Challenge Works (part of the Nesta group) in partnership with Arup and Isle Utilities. This round supports bold innovations that tackle emerging contaminants, net zero goals and water sector-wide resilience, aiming to deliver long-term benefits to customers, communities and the environment. Two of the winning projects will see Jacobs’ residuals treatment technologies developed at full scale to reduce energy use and increase biogas and fuel recovery. A third will pilot new molecular methods to optimize treatment and reduce nitrous oxide emissions. PyroPlas: Turning residuals into sustainable fuels The PyroPlas project will develop a new process for reusing wastewater residuals. It combines Jacobs’ patented Dune low-energy drying technology with pyrolysis and non-thermal plasma treatment. This approach will produce sustainable aviation and marine fuels from wastewater sludge while removing pollutants such as PFAS and microplastics. Severn Trent leads the project, with additional support from Hybrid Gasification, Durham University and several water companies, including United Utilities, Wessex Water, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water and Anglian Water. The project was awarded £11.1 million ($15.1 million) to build and operate the system for a year. While the Dune and pyrolysis systems will run at full scale, non-thermal plasma will be demonstrated at laboratory scale. Jacobs’ Dune technology enables greater fuel recovery by minimizing the energy required for drying sludge before thermal treatment. This
Jacobs supports on-time completion of critical MTA resiliency project milestone

Jacobs served as the project management consultant, overseeing the shutdown phase and helping deliver the milestone on schedule. The work focused on three key areas: replacing critical swing bridge components to improve reliability, rebuilding the Hammels Wye line structure, and installing flood resiliency measures to protect against future storm damage. Despite tight deadlines and challenging site conditions, Jacobs worked closely with the MTA and its design-build partners to make timely decisions and keep the project on track. “Our team’s ability to work seamlessly with MTA and the design-build contractor was key to the project’s success,” says Caitlin Johnson, Jacobs vice president and director of operations – U.S. Northeast Transportation. “By fostering a culture of teamwork and open communication, we navigated challenges effectively and delivered this crucial infrastructure improvement on time.” The reopening comes ahead of the summer season, ensuring reliable transit service to Rockaway Beach during peak tourism months. Next, crews will complete additional resiliency work around the bridge, continue line structure repairs, and finish construction on a new signal tower. The tower will support better service management during flood events and enable future upgrades to communications-based train control.
