Jacobs awarded $350m environmental restoration contract

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) has received a single-award contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England District (USACE NAE) to provide environmental remediation and restoration, technical support and facility maintenance at the New Bedford Harbor Superfund Site (NBHSS) in New Bedford, MA. Jacobs has supported NAE in this capacity at the site since early 2004. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) remedial action contract has a capacity value of $350 million. “With our in-depth understanding of cleanup objectives from more than 12 years of effectively handling NBHSS’ unique conditions and challenges, we’re pleased to be working with USACE NAE to complete the next phase of harbor remediation,” said Jacobs Senior Vice President Aerospace and Technology Ward Johnson. “We expect the technical and management approaches used by our team will enable the site to meet the final cleanup objectives cost effectively and in a reasonable timeframe.” New Bedford Harbor, home to a large commercial fishing fleet, is one of the oldest recreational and commercial navigation harbors along the East Coast of the United States. The USACE was requested by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to clean up PCB-contaminated sediments from the harbor. The contamination is the result of waste discharged from the 1940s through the 1970s by two electrical capacitor manufacturing plants. The USACE has been supporting EPA on this project since the mid-1980s. Jacobs wins contract extension for transperth route information system in Australia

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today it received a five-year contract extension from the Western Australia Public Transport Authority (PTA) to provide support services for the Transperth Route Information System (TRIS). Transperth provides the Perth metropolitan region with bus, train and ferry public transport services. Jacobs has provided support services for PTA’s TRIS for 15 years, including design, implementation and ongoing management. The system was originally developed to manage bus contracts, but its modular design and flexibility led to it becoming an enterprise solution for the organization. It now helps the PTA manage public transport contracts, bus stop maintenance, customer feedback, lost/seized property, land management, asset management and much more. Jacobs receives contract from New Jersey Turnpike authority to provide supervision of construction services on the NJ Turnpike

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (Authority) to provide resident engineering and construction inspection services for roadwide guide sign improvements on the New Jersey Turnpike. Officials estimate the construction value to be $26 million. Construction began July 2015 with substantial completion anticipated for the fall of 2017. This project is being implemented as part the Authority's 10-year capital investment program. The primary purpose is to replace and/or upgrade the roadway signs and sign legends to be consistent with the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing supervision of construction for Construction Contract No. T600.319, roadwide guide sign improvements on the New Jersey Turnpike including replacement of existing guide sign panels; fabrication and installation of new sign structures; removal of existing sign structures; relocation of existing cantilever sign structures at new locations; constructing foundations for new and relocated structures; sign lighting work; installation of roadway safety features; and associated maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) work. This project also includes fabrication and installation of a new VMS structure on the Turnpike; reconnecting signs and ITS devises to the existing system; and testing and final commissioning. Jacobs awarded contract for California high speed rail

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract to provide design services for the Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3) of the California High Speed Rail, which represents the continuation of construction on the California high-speed rail system south towards Kern County. Jacobs is the lead designer for the Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture for the design-build contract and is responsible for the infrastructure design. Officials estimate the construction value to be $1.2 billion. The California High Speed Rail is the first true high-speed rail being constructed in the United States, with operating speeds of up to 220 miles per hour. The ultimate program stretches from San Diego to San Francisco and includes connections in major cities along the alignment such as Los Angeles, Burbank, Palmdale, Bakersfield, Fresno and a spur to Sacramento. The CP 2-3 is expected to provide 65 miles of infrastructure improvements required for the future high-speed rail (HSR), including over 10 million yards of new HSR embankment, 23 HSR structures and 32 new roadway grade separations. The project covers a 65-mile portion of the 120-mile initial construction segment, which will be used as a test track for vehicles before being put into service. Jacobs awarded contract from Los Angeles County Department of Public Works

(NYSE:JEC) announced today that it has received an award from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to provide project management/construction management and project controls support services for the design, renovation and construction of multiple facilities at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, Calif. Jacobs receives contract from Chesapeake bay bridge and tunnel commission

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel Commission (CBBT) to serve as the design manager for a new tunnel along the 23-mile toll crossing at Thimble Shoals Channel between Virginia Beach, Va., and the Delmarva Peninsula. Company officials did not disclose the contract value. The new two-lane passageway, which is expected to parallel one of two existing immersed tunnels, provides additional capacity so that when incidents or repairs close one tunnel the other is available. In addition, the new tunnel allows for one direction of traffic per tube which better accommodates peak season traffic and makes the crossing safer for all travelers. Jacobs on joint venture team selected for Florida DOT’s i-4 ultimate project

Jacobs awarded seawall contract from Seattle DOT

PASADENA, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sep. 17, 2013 -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) for Construction Management Services on the Elliott Bay Seawall Project (EBSP) in Seattle, Wash. Officials estimate the construction value to be $300 million for Phase 1 of the project. Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is managing the construction of approximately 3,700 feet of new seawall infrastructure in an urban waterfront area that supports public recreation, tourism and commerce. Jacobs’ scope of work includes oversight, inspection, monitoring, coordination and documentation of the project. The EBSP replaces the existing seawall with a structure that meets current safety and design standards by replacing deteriorated seawall structures that were constructed between 1916 and 1934. Phase 1 of the project, expected to begin in September 2013, replaces the most deteriorated sections of the central seawall. The City of Seattle is planning a second phase of work for the northern seawall as funding is available.
