Enabling ports to navigate growth, resilience and decarbonization while improving operational performance.
As global trade grows and climate commitments accelerate, container terminals play a critical role in moving goods, connecting supply chains and supporting economic growth. For ICTSI, one of the world's leading independent container terminal operators, reducing emissions across a global network of 29 terminals required a consistent, data-driven approach and establishing clarity and buy-in from each terminal. Jacobs supported ICTSI in developing emissions baselines and reduction strategies, while also developing near-term pathway options for Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions. Working across 29 terminals worldwide, we established emissions baselines and identified opportunities to reduce carbon emissions while supporting operational performance and long-term business resilience.
Jacobs provided greenhouse gas assessment and advisory services to enable ICTSI to develop terminal-specific decarbonization strategies. We evaluated emissions sources and identified practical reduction measures, developing a bespoke emissions tool capable of modeling baseline and future emissions scenarios across the portfolio.
To support buy-in and capability building among the client’s staff at each terminal, we also delivered online workshops and training sessions for terminal operations and engineering teams, enabling them to evaluate and prioritize emissions reduction initiatives. We combined technical analysis with practical implementation guidance, enabling ICTSI to build a consistent, data-driven approach to decarbonization across its global terminal network. The outcome is a practical framework that enables terminal teams to evaluate emissions reduction opportunities, support informed investment decisions and advance ICTSI's long-term net zero ambitions.
