For more than half a century, the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has been showcasing the positive impact engineering has on the world and helping encourage more students to consider engineering and technology careers by marking Engineers Week each February.

Here at Jacobs, our teammates are challenging today and reinventing tomorrow to help us create a more connected, sustainable world — so Engineers Week is the perfect time for us to celebrate our visionaries, thinkers and doers and show the impact they create for our clients and communities.

“I love the approach to flexible working at Jacobs — I can pursue a technical career in science and be involved in interesting nuclear projects that build a brighter future while also having a work life balance and Fridays to spend with my young children.”

    Solarhope

In a world that’s fast advancing in terms of technology and development, it’s easy to forget there are still areas where people live without access to necessities like electricity. Upper Pasto, a remote region in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija in the Philippines, is one such place. We donated 29 solar panels equipped with lights and a community hall solar power system. Our team also helped in the renovation of the community hall, which had been damaged during a recent typhoon.

Bridges to Prosperity

At Jacobs, we believe in investing in local communities not only where our employees live and work, but globally, making a positive impact and living our values.

In July 2023, #OurJacobs team partnered with nonprofit Bridges to Prosperity to build a bridge across the Kamiranzomvu River to provide safe, year-round access for the surrounding communities, empowering them to end poverty due to rural isolation.

Watch the video below to see their experience unfold.

“It's hard not to get excited when you see how impactful this is to the community—when you see the children, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers—it's one of the most amazing, inspiring and honestly heartwarming things to experience. It's been life-changing to see just how a bridge can impact a community.”

STEAM at Jacobs

We are united in developing and delivering a global STEAM education and engagement program that demonstrates our commitment to equality, inclusion and diversity.

  • Ronier Dumeni
  • NASA Girl Scouts
  • STEAM team
  • Lucy May and students at a STEAM event
  • 50 K

hours of STEAM volunteering we hope to achieve by 2025

  • 17 K+

hours of STEAM volunteering to date

Jacobs has chosen to use “STEAM” rather than “STEM” for several reasons:

  • STEAM highlights a broader and more inclusive range of interests and topics in addition to science, technology, engineering and math.
  • It provides a greater opportunity for our employees to see themselves in STEAM.
