Earn Your Wings: Take Flight with the Butterfly Effect

Earn Your Wings, Take Flight with the Butterfly Effect (Ages 11-18) supports young people to become change-makers and apply their understanding of sustainability to create a positive and lasting impact in their schools and communities.

Jacobs Earn Your Wings Take flight with the Butterfly Effect

The ‘Earn Your Wings: Take Flight with the Butterfly Effect’ is a new program designed to provide young people with the opportunity and support to put their knowledge of sustainability into action. It aims to help guide young people to work together to develop a sustainability strategy for their school or organization.

The program is designed to be flexible and can be adapted to suit young people aged 11-18, within classes, clubs and community groups. It offers a continuation from the Butterfly Effect program; however, completion of this program is not required. The development of a sustainability strategy is designed to get young people to think about practical steps they can implement to ensure sustainability is at the heart of life at their school or organization. The sustainability strategy will set out the sustainability aims, the actions needed to achieve them and measure success. We recommend nominating Sustainability Champions to ensure the project leaves a legacy at the school or organization.

Our comprehensive resources will support, guide and empower young people to live more sustainably. The aim is to create lasting behavioral change by providing young people with the knowledge and understanding they need to put sustainability at the forefront of every decision they make. The principles learned through the project can also be applied to lives outside school.
