My name is Parimal Trivedi, and I am a lead piping engineer with Jacobs in Singapore.

I am a mechanical engineer by profession. I joined Jacobs 15 years ago in 2008. Many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies have operations in Singapore, so I have had the opportunity to work on a broad range of exciting projects for many interesting clients in my time at Jacobs.

In the pharmaceutical industry, a piping engineer is a specialized discipline of mechanical engineering responsible for the design of piping systems and the layout of equipment and process units in facilities ensuring that the mechanical systems and the equipment and machinery work efficiently. Efficiency is critical in pharmaceutical facilities.

In my role, I am involved from the very beginning of project, working through the concept, design, detail, construction, commissioning and validation of a facility. These facilities manufacture medicines for patients all over the world and I am incredibly proud to be a part of a collective team working to improve the quality of life for patients with life threatening diseases.

My son was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) when he was four and a half years old. DMD is characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness meaning someone with this condition will gradually lose strength so that activities many of us take for granted such as climbing, walking and running are gradually reduced until eventually the person isn’t able to walk at all. Thankfully, my son was prescribed a medicine which helps reduce inflammation and support motor muscle strength and reduced motor muscle degeneration which in turn helped him walk longer and allowed him to carry out daily activities.

I have experienced first-hand how modern medicine can transform a life which is why I am proud to work as part of the Jacobs Life Science team because we are helping design and build solutions to the world’s most challenging problems.

Working for one business for 15 years is a long time and for me, it is important that the culture is right. Jacobs’ culture embodied in our BeyondZero® “Culture of Caring” philosophy inspires mutual respect and personal accountability among colleagues and provides the courage to drive excellence and safekeeping in all we do. Our visionary management team guide and support me at every step and we work together to address challenges with creative and innovative, outside the box solutions.
