Get to know Patrick
Can you tell me about your career journey?
Following my father's 45-year legacy in geothermal drilling, I've spent more than 17 years advancing the geothermal industry, focusing on strategic growth and industry leadership. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset in the space – whether running my own consulting firm or serving as director of sales and marketing for a global geothermal engineering firm. My commitment to the industry extends to board positions with the International Geothermal Association, Women in Geothermal, and previously, Geothermal Resources Council (now Geothermal Rising).
What sparked your passion for geothermal energy?
My passion comes from the conviction that geothermal energy is key to meeting global clean energy demands. It's not just another renewable source – it's the baseload solution critical for a successful energy transition.
What's your favorite part of your role?
Working with Jacobs' passionate Energy team to expand our thought leadership and project portfolio is what drives me daily. The potential for integrated sustainability projects across markets presents endless opportunities for innovation at Jacobs.
What excites you about the future of this industry?
I’m excited to help geothermal energy achieve the same recognition as solar and wind, establishing itself as a distinct, significant contributor to the global energy mix.
What is the biggest challenge in your market?
The greatest hurdle is the combination of substantial upfront capital requirements and extended permitting timelines, which often delay promising geothermal projects.
When you aren't working, what are we most likely to find you doing?
My competitive spirit from collegiate basketball has evolved into a passion for youth sports coaching. I give back to the community through basketball mentorship and my evenings and weekends are often spent coaching on the court or the field cheering on my youngest playing select soccer.
What do you enjoy most about being part of #OurJacobs?
The opportunity to collaborate with passionate professionals who share a commitment to sustainable impact and advancing Jacobs' project portfolio makes this role especially rewarding.
