Meet Myat Ohn
Oakland, CA, U.S.

Myat Ohn is transforming how the nation moves — and earning national recognition for it.
With nearly two decades of experience in rail and transit engineering, she leads Jacobs’ delivery of some of the most ambitious transit projects in the U.S. Named one of the Top 20 National “Rising Stars” by Progressive Railroading Magazine and a member of the prestigious American Public Transportation Association (APTA)’s Leadership Program in the Class of 2025, Myat brings technical excellence, collaborative leadership and a deep commitment to helping communities connect through better transit. Her work ensures that infrastructure doesn’t just move people — it improves lives.
Her career began at the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Since then, she has built a portfolio that spans all phases of project delivery — from planning and design to quality assurance and construction support. Since joining Jacobs in 2018, Myat has delivered more than $100 million in design services for clients nationwide and has overseen the company’s rail & transit team in California, where her deepest impact can be felt and where she lives and works.
Driving innovation in California transit
From Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro), Myat is at the forefront of transformative transit projects. In the Bay Area, she leads Jacobs’ general engineering services on-call contracts for BART, overseeing staffing, contract administration and design coordination to modernize one of the nation’s busiest transit systems.
She’s also known for going deep — literally and technically. Earlier in her career as track discipline lead for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) on a 16-mile corridor from Fremont to Santa Clara, Myat delivered complex bored tunnel alignments and coordinated with tunnel, station and systems teams to integrate infrastructure across the project. For LA Metro, she led track design for a 3.2-mile underground rail design-build project featuring twin bored tunnels and multiple stations. Leading special trackwork design, interdisciplinary coordination and construction support, she brought precision and resilience to one of Los Angeles’ most ambitious transit investments.
Widely recognized for her precision and commitment to quality, Myat brought that same rigor to her role as quality manager for VTA’s Zero Emissions Bus Blueprint Plan — where she implemented robust quality assurance and control processes that elevated performance and reinforced the resilience of Jacobs’ final deliverables.
Myat’s approach to transit design is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: what we build today must be ready for the cities of tomorrow. Through innovation, collaboration and a deep commitment to quality, she continues to lead Jacobs’ efforts to deliver infrastructure that endures.
“Modern transit solutions must be resilient and future-ready. What we build today will carry the weight of tomorrow’s cities.”
