Meet Mary Kanavoutsos

Mary is Jacobs’ executive market director, water for Australia and New Zealand. Over the last 28 years, she’s been fortunate to work in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Asia and the Middle East, helping clients, industry and communities with the delivery of water infrastructure. She’s also had the pleasure of working with diverse teams to innovate, develop and deliver water solutions in various market sectors including municipal, industrial, mining, power, oil and gas.

Mary brings together internal and external talent to collectively challenge and innovate in the quest to solve the water challenges of today and tomorrow.

Over the course of Mary’s career, she’s worked in technical, commercial, project delivery and business development roles within the water industry. Her area of technical expertise is water treatment, desalination and water reuse.

Mary believes that to solve the water challenges of today and tomorrow, we need to consider not only the safe and reliable supply of drinking water and the safe treatment of wastewater, but also how we develop and deliver water solutions that consider the impacts of climate change, urbanization, digitization and community inequity.

She says that our knowledge of our water clients’ assets and operations, as well as our partnerships and collaborative approach at Jacobs, allows us to create teams of engineers, scientists, economists, planners, urban designers and strategists to develop and deliver holistic water and energy solutions that unlock multiple benefits for clients and the community.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) Honors degree from University of Melbourne in Australia and is a Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
