Wolverhampton City Council Renews Partnership With Jacobs

PASADENA, Calif., Nov 11, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it was reappointed by Wolverhampton City Council to be its private-sector partner to jointly provide innovative and high-quality solutions for a wide range of construction projects and property-related services. Selected after an industry-wide competition, Jacobs will assist the Council in delivering its ambitious investment program.

The contract runs for five years with extension provisions to 10 years, and is valued at about 2 million pounds Sterling per year for a total of about 20 million pounds. It follows on the successful delivery of the Council's first property services partnership with Jacobs that ran from 2003 to 2008.

This new strategic partnership again teams the City's Property Services Division with Jacobs to provide cost-effective support for workload peaks and special projects, and to share best practices and innovations. This time, as well as the core services of architecture, structures, engineering services, quantity & building surveying, and estates & valuation, the contract also covers a wide range of specialties such as Disability Discrimination Act work, geotechnical engineering, and all aspects of construction-related environmental services.

Besides the delivery of key asset management programs and major projects such as the Bilston Leisure Centre, goals for the partners include implementing joint quality management systems (developed during the initial partnership), extending efficiency initiatives, and collaborating on staff development.

Jacobs will be expanding its presence in Wolverhampton, opening a new office in the city center which also will provide resources for other local authority contracts in the region.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Allyn Taylor said, "We are delighted to be selected to continue our partnership with Wolverhampton, which we see as a best-practice example of public-private collaboration. Jacobs is re-affirming its commitment to the City and the local economy with a new, enlarged office and the opportunities for business and employment it brings."

Jacobs, with over 57,000 employees and revenues exceeding $11.0 billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services globally.
