Jacobs Engineering Appointed Project Representative for Crossrail

PASADENA, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that Jacobs Engineering UK Ltd had been appointed as Project Representative by the UK's Department for Transport (DfT) and Transport for London (TfL) for the $24 billion (pounds Sterling 15.9 billion) Crossrail programme.

Jacobs will provide oversight services to the project sponsors (DfT and TfL) to help guide the delivery of Crossrail services to schedule, within budget and to the agreed standard by Crossrail Ltd and its delivery partners.

UK Government Transport Minister Andrew Adonis said, "When Crossrail is completed it will increase London's rail capacity by 10 percent and bring 1.5 million new commuters within one hour's journey of the West End and the City. Jacobs will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to help us deliver Crossrail."

The $24 billion Crossrail programme is Europe's largest construction project. When it is completed in 2017, it will be the biggest addition to the transport network in London and the South East of England for 50 years, providing passengers with 24 trains per hour in both directions through Central London at peak times.
