DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) has received the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) 2016 Workforce Development Award in recognition of its JacobsWay program, which provides career advancement opportunities in construction.
CURT is an association of leading corporations in the United States and Canada, dedicated to the promotion of cost effective construction methods. CURT members recognize that training, education and recruitment are essential to excellence in construction project delivery. As a result, CURT founded the Workforce Development Awards to recognize companies and organizations for extraordinary, exemplary and innovative recruitment, training and education programs, which encourage people to pursue careers in construction.
The JacobsWay program was first implemented during a two-year capital construction project in Baytown, Texas. During the project 1,168 Jacobs’ employees participated in the company’s Incumbent Worker Training Program, provided in partnership with the Workforce Investment and Opportunities Act and delivered through a flexible approach to make it convenient for full-time employees. All employees earned the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credentials or level completions that resulted in career progression opportunities within Jacobs.
In addition, 19 unemployed or underemployed Baytown community members successfully completed pre‐employment training, at no cost to participants, in preparation for starting their careers in the industry.
“Jacobs is honoured to receive the CURT Workforce Development Award for our JacobsWay program,” said Jacobs Workforce Development Director Matthew Clark. “JacobsWay meets two critical needs. First, it provides career opportunities for unemployed and underemployed individuals, including women and military veterans willing to meet the challenge of non‐traditional work roles in order to build greater capacity in the industrial workforce. Second, it reinforces our commitment to the men and women in our craft workforce, demonstrating the value we place on their careers and outlining the path they can follow to advance within Jacobs.”
Jacobs is one of the world’s largest and most diverse providers of full-spectrum technical, professional and construction services for industrial, commercial and government organizations globally. The company employs 54,000 people and operates in more than 25 countries around the world. For more information, visit www.jacobs.com.
