PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract for a framework agreement to provide professional consultancy services for Lancashire County Council for the preparation and supervision of highway design functions throughout the county.
Officials did not provide the value of this 3-year contract that utilizes the NEC3 Framework. The contract does have an optional extension to a fourth year.
As part of the contract, Jacobs will provide professional and specialist consultancy services on the Council's priority major scheme, the pounds Sterling 138 million Heysham to M6 Link. The link will provide improved connections between Morecambe and Heysham with the M6 motorway, including access to Heysham Port. The project will significantly reduce the volume of traffic using the River Lune Bridges in Lancaster, will facilitate industrial and commercial regeneration, and will create opportunities to enhance alternative travel modes by relieving the current traffic conditions.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Higgins stated, "We believe that the framework offers both organizations a unique opportunity to build a delivery structure that will perform from the outset and develop quickly to become best-in-class within the North West of England."
Jacobs, with over 55,000 employees and revenues exceeding $10.0 billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services globally.
