Jacobs Receives Design, Construction, and Maintenance Support Contract from MPact

PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract to provide detailed design, construction, and maintenance support to MPact for the construction of a $1.1 billion extension to the light rail Metrolink system in Manchester, U.K. The new lines will add nearly 20 miles and 26 passenger stops to the system.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

MPact is a joint venture company comprising Laing O'Rourke and Grant Rail. The owner of the Metrolink system, Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE), plans to undertake further extensions to Metrolink as funding allows.
