PASADENA, Calif., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC), in a joint venture with Huitt-Zollars, announced today that it received a contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District for construction phase services within the Southwest region, primarily at the Fort Bliss Army Post, located near El Paso, Texas.
The contract value is $65 million.
The $5.0 billion Fort Bliss Expansion Program encompasses over 4,500 acres of green field development, over 1,000 acres of major Army Airfield Area upgrades, and multiple infill projects scattered across 3,000 acres of the historic Fort Bliss Main Post. Implemented by the US Army to support the global repositioning of soldiers, Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) and the Grow the Army (GTA) initiatives, these programs represent the largest construction efforts by the US Army since WWII. It is projected that by year 2013, more than 34,000 soldiers and their family members will be stationed at Fort Bliss.
