Jacobs Receives Contract for Northern Ireland Schools Modernization Program

PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a professional services contract from the Department of Education for Northern Ireland (the Department) to support multidisciplinary capital works identified under the Northern Ireland Schools Modernization Program (NISMP). The NISMP has a total estimated capital value of 550 pounds Sterling to 650 million.

Officials did not disclose the contract value but noted that the duration was four years.

The Department has responsibility for educational policy making and delivery, as well as responsibility for the development and delivery of high- quality schools facilities across Northern Ireland. These range from nurseries to primary, secondary and post-secondary schools; youth centers; workshops and/or laboratories; colleges; and other teaching facilities.

Jacobs is one of six lead contractors that will deliver educational facilities projects to the Department. The projects could include design and construction for new build or replacement buildings on new or existing sites together with upgrade and refurbishment of existing educational facilities. Depending on the project, Jacobs will provide project management, cost management, architectural services, building services engineering, civil and structural engineering, and coordination of health and safety related matters. Economic appraisals or other consulting services may also be required under the contract.
