PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it has been awarded an extension to its current marine environmental services contract from Horizon Nuclear Power Limited in support of the company's new build nuclear power station development at Wylfa, Anglesey in the United Kingdom.
Officials did not disclose the contract value.
Jacobs' scope of works includes delivering a baseline marine ecology survey program covering fisheries, benthos, marine birds, plankton and water quality; environmental impact assessments; option appraisals; and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA) for the new power station and its associated infrastructure.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Duff stated, "We are delighted to provide ongoing support to Horizon Nuclear Power in the preparation of key elements of the environmental consents submissions for this major nuclear power station development."
Horizon Nuclear Power is a UK energy company developing a new generation of nuclear power stations. The joint venture between E.ON UK and RWE npower plans to deliver around 6,000 megawatts of new nuclear power station capacity in the UK by 2025. The program is likely to involve more than $24 billion (GBP pounds sterling 15 billion) of investment.
