PASADENA, Calif., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it received a contract from the Civil Engineering and Development Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to provide services in respect of managing and operating the Public Works Regional Laboratory in Tai Po, Hong Kong. The Laboratory provides construction material compliance testing services for public sector projects.
The contract value is estimated at HKD 34.6 million (approximately USD 5 million).
Jacobs' scope of work for the project includes managing and operating the Public Works Regional Laboratory (Tai Po) with 21 laboratory-based staff for a period of three years. The Public Works Regional Laboratory (Tai Po) forms part of the Public Works Laboratories which comprise a central laboratory and five regional laboratories.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Tom Quinn stated, "We have established a sound, long-term relationship with the Civil Engineering and Development Department, gained through various infrastructure projects. We are pleased to provide additional capabilities to further support the effective operation of their Laboratories, while at the same time adding a new business line to our Hong Kong operations."
