PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract from the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) to provide design services for a 3-mile section of limited access roadway that will bypass existing U.S. Route 301 in New Castle County, Del. The project also requires design for bridges and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and related engineering services.
Officials estimate the construction value of the contract at $70 million, with final design scheduled for completion in 2010. The work is part of DelDOT's $704 million U.S. Route 301 Roadway Project involving 17.5 miles of new and reconstructed roadway.
Jacobs will provide advanced project development and final design services for a section of four-lane limited access roadway that will extend from the Maryland state line north to an interchange with Levels Road. The interchange will include a two-span bridge over the new bypass. The project also includes design for ITS and overhead sign structures, the incorporation of a tolling facility in the overall design, and the preparation of right-of-way plans to acquire property.
