PASADENA, Calif., Feb 09, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract from ExxonMobil Production Company to provide construction services for ExxonMobil's enhanced oil and gas recovery project at the Hawkins Field in Wood County, Texas, about 100 miles east of Dallas.
Jacobs will provide engineering, procurement and the direct hire of construction services.
New facilities will be installed at the Hawkins Field, discovered by ExxonMobil in 1940 at the time one of the largest in the state, to recover and reinject nitrogen and other gases from the field's natural gas production. This will enable more oil and gas to be recovered from the reservoirs and extend the life of this mature field.
Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2010. At its peak, the ExxonMobil project expects to employ a construction workforce of about 300 people, a number of which are expected to come from the local area. The project should provide significant direct and indirect economic benefits to the North East region of Texas. Project start-up is anticipated in late 2011.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President of Global Construction Services Philip Stassi stated, "We are excited to provide these services for this important investment and to assist ExxonMobil in its ongoing development of domestic oil and gas production. This project expands our portfolio of oil and gas projects."
Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical, professional, and construction services.
