Jacobs Awarded Contract to Support UK Ministry of Defence

Leveraging Experience with Government-Owned, Contractor-Operated Model

PASADENA, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jun. 11, 2013 -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract to provide integrated delivery advisor services to the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organization of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Company officials did not disclose the contract value, but noted that under the terms of the contract Jacobs is supporting the Materiel Strategy program managed by DE&S.

The DE&S is responsible for administering and managing an annual budget of approximately $28 billion (£18 billion) for equipment, equipment support and a logistics acquisition program on behalf of the UK Armed Forces. The DE&S is currently undertaking a major transformation program to improve business performance by enhancing the structures, management and skills required for the organization to supply the UK Armed Forces’ equipment requirements. As part of its work to reform the acquisition system, the DE&S is assessing two options: a private-sector-led government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) model, and a restructured version of DE&S that stays within the public sector.

Drawing upon its breadth of experience and its global capabilities to deliver complex projects, Jacobs is providing independent and informed industry perspective to support the Materiel Strategy team as they asses the options.

Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Irvin stated, “We are delighted to continue our strong relationship with the Ministry of Defence. We look forward to leveraging our GOCO experience to support the DE&S in achieving their strategic objectives.”

Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical, professional, and construction services.
