PASADENA, Calif., July 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it was awarded a contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District as design partner with Skanska USA Building Inc. for the construction of the Tri-Service Research Laboratory at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Our design team brings together the expertise of in-house laboratory specialists and the talents of the San Antonio office.
Officials did not disclose the contract value; however, the estimated construction value of this state-of-the-art facility is $69.9 million.
The Tri-Service Research Laboratory is a 181,620-square-foot, single-story facility to be constructed on a 25-acre site at Fort Sam Houston. Fort Sam Houston is transitioning to become the location for the Defense Department Center for Excellence for enlisted medical training for all military services. Slated for completion in spring 2011, this facility will be designed and constructed to include energy-efficient features such as natural lighting, high-efficiency chilled water systems, and energy recovery systems.
