The 2018 International SOS Duty of Care Awards took place in Chicago on May 17, 2018. This year’s theme, Empowering Sustainability and Resilience, honored organizations and leaders who contributed to strategic innovation in protecting their mobile global workforce. The awards recognized outstanding achievements in meeting high standards of health, safety and security in protecting its people.
Jacobs’ Global Security & Resilience team received a special mention within the Innovation category which recognized new and novel approaches to identifying, managing and mitigating risk, including utilizing technology. The team’s submission for the innovation category detailed how Jacobs Global Security & Resilience program incorporated Duty of Care in all aspects and partnership with other functional and business operations across Jacobs three lines of business, to focus on employee security, safety and well-being as a dedicated approach within the business processes. As part of this dedicated approach, the ethos and key drivers are to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and outcomes of employee well-being, and protection from the threat/risk of various environments that we operate in globally. Our program has been designed to be scalable for all times, i.e. state of certainty or business as usual, to states of uncertainty or emergency and crisis.
Vice President of Global Security & Resilience Joe Olivarez was recognized and received the Ambassador for Duty of Care award as someone who has made a significant impact in protecting people traveling and working aboard on behalf of Jacobs.
Joe’s commitment and concerted efforts to securing our people and the business has been demonstrated by the development of a remarkable and sustainable Security Risk Management program through his vision and leadership. His approach highlights his clear understanding of risk, its determination and relevance to vulnerable areas and potentially escalating or elevated threat environments. Through Joe’s passion, assurance, vision and stewardship, Jacobs Global Security & Resilience program has achieved a significant level of success in a short period of time. Lead by Joe, Jacobs has helped our employees who have been either directly or indirectly impacted by, but not limited to, emergency and crisis events such as terrorist attacks, evacuations and severe weather events like hurricanes.
