Jacobs celebrated Pride Month in style on the weekend of 16th-17th June as over 425,000 people from across the world shimmied into town to celebrate PrideFest, America’s third largest LGBT+ Pride festival.
PrideFest is sponsored by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Colorado: this year’s event was especially important, as for the first time in history Jacobs was a major sponsor, building on a tradition established in 2003 by CH2M.
Hundreds of attendees visited the Jacobs booth on “Sponsors Row” outside the Colorado State Capitol Building, where they sang, danced, told jokes and answered questions about safety, engineering and LGBT+ awareness to receive Jacobs-branded giveaways.
The booth was staffed by a team comprised of Jacobs employees from our Jacobs PRISM LGBT+ Employee Network and across the business, with representatives from our Executive Leadership Team also in attendance to show solidarity.
The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the PrideFest parade on Sunday morning, where the Jacobs team proudly marched in front of a float festooned with rainbow flags, eyelashes, high heel pump shoes - and our special “Pride Piñata” mascot named Burro.
As the historic weekend came to a close, everyone agreed that Jacobs’ first PrideFest had been a resounding success – and The Denver Post clearly agreed, featuring a photo of our Denver employee Carissa Brown in their coverage of the event.
Congratulations to everyone involved for their time and effort in making this event such a success - happy Pride month!
