Michele Holland, PE, PMP, is the Federal Civilian Agencies Portfolio Operations Director. A graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering, Michele began her career designing large infrastructure and facility projects in the Washington D.C. area before moving overseas to support bridge and infrastructure projects in Gurgaon, India and then on to deliver program management support in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Michele joined Jacobs in 2011 as a Project Manager in the Arlington, Virginia office. She has since moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where she is on a never-ending quest to find the best craft beer and BBQ in the state.

Quite possibly the newest team member that we spoke with for International Women in Engineering Day, Liz Wiecha is already making waves as Director of Project and Construction Management (PMCM) Infrastructure for Northern California, having been part of #OurJacobs family for just five months.

For this feature, we talked with Dr. Monica Wright – a senior air quality technologist, facilitation community of practice lead and Portland office leader – about career, the STEAM heroes who inspire her and getting comfortable being uncomfortable.

Jacobs was awarded a new U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Kansas City District Architecture and Engineering (AE) contract to support the planning, design and construction of facilities and infrastructure in service of the Air Force's B-21 mission. The Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) supports AE requirements primarily at Ellsworth Air Force Base (AFB), South Dakota, Dyess AFB, Texas, Whiteman AFB, Missouri, and other locations as the Air Force determines support for the B-21 program.

As Jacobs’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Director for Advanced Facilities, Yvonne Lynam works closely with HSE, construction and operations teams across the business to standardize global HSE practices. She also partners with BeyondZero teams and Positive Mental Health Champions to continue evolving Jacobs’ Culture of Caring. She first joined Jacobs in 2000 and returned in 2012 as an HSE Manager supporting key construction projects in Ireland and Switzerland.

Kimberly Martinez is a project manager at Jacobs who also supports our Project Management and Construction Management (PMCM) business in the Pacific Northwest. Kimberly works on major buildings and infrastructure programs and projects supporting clients through transformative growth, including Boeing and the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).

Lia Black is an environmental consultant, spatial analyst and experienced project manager. In her 17-year career she has worked on a range of disciplinary environmental projects. As Jacobs Section Leader for Defence Solutions and Advisory across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), Lia currently leads the solutions and advisory area for Australia’s Defence and Regional Security (DRS )business, looking after technical solutions delivery across estate strategic planning, business case, design, environment/heritage/contamination, digital, security and cost planning.

One of Canada’s shining stars, Program Manager and Jacobs Vice President Rayna Volden has spent her 30-year engineering career delivering innovative solutions to all aspects of civil engineering and environmental challenges across the country.

Alyssa Carson has had an interest in space since she was a little girl. She is currently a junior at Florida Tech studying astrobiology, which she hopes will lead her to a career where she can one day research bacteria in space. At 15, Alyssa joined Project PoSSUM, a citizen science research group, and has since been able to participate in microgravity flights, water survival, airborne research and space suit testing. She joined Jacobs’ International Space Relations team earlier in the year and has thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different space agencies around the world.

As the Rail Portfolio Lead for Rail Major Projects, Susana Gozalo leads Jacobs’ growth and operations in the U.K. for major projects and for regional and local government rail opportunities. She also works to operationalize the way inclusion and diversity is part of client delivery as the Inclusion and Diversity Executive Sponsor for Transportation.

From next generation systems for a climate-resilient future to managing complex decommissioning, site closure, radioactive waste and remediation efforts, Jacobs is helping solve the world’s most complex nuclear challenges safely and effectively.
