Meet Shane Durdin

As the future of work becomes a reality and global challenges to organizational security, wellbeing and ability to operate continually evolve, there is a need to remain agile and focused on managing HSE and security risks effectively while enabling culture to deliver the best outcomes for employees, the environment and organizations.

This is where Shane Durdin comes in.

Shane Durdin

Vice President, Global Health, Safety & Environment, Jacobs

With over 14 years as a senior HSE professional, he has held roles in mining construction and mineral processing through to global corporate HSE leadership. These roles have included being able to work on projects on every continent (excluding Antarctica), across multiple industries and business sectors from strategic safety leadership and initiatives on a global scale to localized tactical HSE support to operations and clients from sales through to execution. Shane currently leads our portfolios for BeyondZero, Mental Health Matters and governance and assurance.

Prior to Shane taking up a profession in HSE, he served in the military for nearly two decades. During his full-time service his roles included being a tradesman, workshop manager, combat logistics operations officer and Officer Commanding to name a few, and is a veteran of several warlike and non-warlike operations internationally. Shane has been the chair of Jacobs Veterans' Employee Network and is currently its Executive Co-sponsor.

Shane earned a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Occupational Health and Environment from the University of Western Sydney, and has been a speaker at numerous industry conferences and a sessional university lecturer on health and safety practice.

With a firm belief that people are the solution to HSE challenges rather than the problem to control, Shane ensures in his role that our Culture of Caring and HSE performance excellence through BeyondZero transcends into every aspect of our people and operations, and through to our clients and communities to create a world which is safer, secure and free from harm to the environment.
